Afghan students protest outside Indian Embassy in Kabul against delay in receiving e-visas

  After the Taliban fighters entered Afghanistan, Afghan students enrolled in Indian institutes are still awaiting the issuance of visas so they can continue their education. The students protested outside the Indian Embassy in Kabul and requested the Indian govt to issue e-visas at the earliest. Hundreds of Afghan students staged a protest in front of the Indian Embassy in Kabul on Wednesday and requested the Indian government to issue electronic visas for them to allow them to continue their education. With the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, Afghan students enrolled in Indian universities still await the issuance of visas so that they can return to India. More than 2,500 students from different parts of Afghanistan are unable to join offline classes at Indian colleges and universities. Crisis-hit Sri Lanka re-introduces fuel rationing for vehicles

  The state-owned petroleum corporation re-introduced fuel rationing for vehicles where motorcycles and other two-wheelers can purchase fuel up to Rs 2,000 per visit to a fuel station. Similarly, three-wheelers can purchase fuel worth Rs 3,000 and cars upto Rs 8,000. Sri Lanka's state-owned petroleum corporation on Thursday re-introduced fuel rationing for vehicles, as the worst economic crisis in decades roils the country with massive public protests against the government. Ceylon Petroleum Corporation head Sumith Wijesinghe said that now motorcycles and other two-wheelers can purchase fuel up to worth Rs 2,000 per visit to a fuel station. Similarly, three-wheelers can purchase fuel worth Rs 3,000 and cars upto Rs 8,000.   The US President chose Karine Jean-Pierre to be White House press secretary. She became the first black and openly gay person to serve as the public face of a U.S. administration. President Joe Biden said on Thursday he has chosen Karine Jean-Pierre to be White House press secretary, succeeding Jen Psaki and becoming the first Black and openly gay person to serve as the public face of a U.S. administration. Psaki, who leaves the job on May 13, had said early in the Biden administration, which started in January of 2021, that she planned to stay about a year. Jean-Pierre has served as deputy press secretary since the beginning of Biden's term. She worked on his 2020 presidential campaign, in President Barack Obama's White House, and was chief public affairs officer for MoveOn.org, a progressive advocacy group.
